POSITION OPENING: In-School Behavior Intervention Program Supervisor

Position Summary: The Behavior Intervention Program (BIP) Supervisor is a dual role; serving both as a behavior intervention subject matter expert, as well as overseeing the work and deliverables of the SPYS BIP team. The BIP Supervisor will provide BIP Specialists with support and resources, while also working one-on-one with students exhibiting adolescent behaviors who will benefit from redirection, de-escalation strategies, and restorative practices and their families to determine appropriate and effective interventions that will ensure success in school and their community.

Position Status: Full time, benefits eligible, or consultant

Hours: 40 hours per week, Mondays – Fridays during school hours

Supporting Grade Level: High School or Middle School

Location: St. Paul OR Minneapolis

Supervise: High School and Middle School BIP Specialist

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary: $49,000-55,000 annually

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Student, Family, and Educator Support

a. Facilitate and provide social-emotional support for Middle School or High School students who have been identified by the school through teacher and/or staff input to be exhibiting pre-adolescent/adolescent behaviors that will benefit from redirection, de-escalation strategies, and restorative practices in school or the community.

b. Always ensure an active caseload of 25 youth.

c. Continually collaborate with community resources that provide mentoring, youth development, mental health, vocational or other services to assist the BIP Program in developing a success plan for youth.

d. Proactively identify key personnel in the school building who are responsible for youth welfare and build a cooperative relationship.

2. Supervisor Role

a. Ensure all BIP Specialists maintain an active caseload of 25 Tier A youth at all times, with Tier B youth caseload depending on the needs of the high school.

b. Create tools that enable BIP Specialists to provide the highest level of support to students in the Middle School and High School levels.

c. Proactively find ways to bring additional value and resources to BIP Specialists and the youth they support.

d. Regularly provide and document performance feedback to BIP Specialists to enhance and ensure quality performance, documenting.

e. Provide the Executive Director a monthly report for the BIP Program.

f. Identify key areas of program success and critical areas for improvement, while also gathering input and feedback from the team on program effectiveness.

g. Attend all BIP Specialist meetings with Principals and relay information to the SPYS Executive Director.

h. Meet with school Principals.

3. Data and Documentation

a. Record student outcome data in Apricot in accordance with program requirements and direction from supervisor.

b. Help ensure BIP Specialists are entering updated and accurate data.

4. Additional Responsibilities

a. Represent SPYS in a professional manner during all school and community interactions.

b. Complete other tasks, committee assignments and/or special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Desired Education and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

● 3+ years of related experience or training required

● Demonstrated success working with youth and families to achieve measurable outcomes required

● 1+ years of experience supervising employees preferred

● Experience providing de-escalation, redirection, and restorative practices in a school setting referred

● Strong interpersonal skills

● Ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment

● Ability to exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality
