St. Paul Youth Services: Turning High Risk into High Hopes All Children Excel
A very small group of kids under age 10 have already started committing crimes. These kids are heading down a dangerous path. Research tells us that without immediate, intensive, and ongoing help, they are likely to drop out of school, abuse drugs and alcohol, commit violent crimes, and eventually become career criminals. Not surprisingly, these kids come from chaotic and dysfunctional homes where poverty, criminal activity, violence, distrust, and anger are the norm.

Despite these obstacles, we believe that these kids deserve a chance to change. So we commit to stay with them for the long term and work closely with them in all areas of their lives. We help them control their temper, learn how to solve problems, and connect with people. We encourage them to participate in activities that give them a chance to make friends and learn new skills. We work with the schools to ensure that they are attending school, completing their homework, behaving in class, and following directions. We support the family in managing and solving crises. By doing all of this, we help these kids choose a different path – one that gives them the opportunity to succeed.

All Children Excel Program Outcomes:

  • The ACE Program currently works with 65 children and their families.
  • Of those who have been involved with the program more than 6 months, 65% have had no further contact with the police or court system.
